Eat: Red Velvet Cake (RVC)

6 Jan

Since the day I became aware of the existence of Red Velvet Cake, I have been dying to know what does the cake taste like! You see; with vanilla cake, we know that it will taste of vanilla. Duh. Same goes for chocolate, lemon, mint, etc. But Red Velvet? What does Red Velvet taste like?

From Wiki:

A red velvet cake is a popular cake with a dark red, bright red or red-brown color. It is usually prepared as a layer cake topped with a creamy vanilla icing or most popularly, cream cheese icing. The reddish-brown color of the cake was originally from a reaction of the cocoa powder with an acidic ingredient such as buttermilk; however red food coloring is often added.

I tried baking RV cupcakes once and it was a horrible disaster. The cake tasted acidic to me. There’s only a slight hint of cocoa. I hate it. 😦

We went to Universal Studio Singapore (USS) again recently and finally (!!), thanks to Celebrity Cafe and Bakery, I get to officially taste them. 🙂 Though FYI it’s about $8 a slice! (more !!!!)
